In Safi, the former disused Ta’ Ġawhar area has been transformed into a vibrant picnic area and dog park. Spanning 1,000 square meters, the space offers a sustainable environment with solar-powered lighting, security cameras, and outdoor furniture made from sustainable materials. The area, now adorned with thirty indigenous trees and over forty shrubs, was once an illegal dumping site and has been revitalized to provide a safe and accessible open space for residents. The Ta’ Ġawhar Dog Park and Picnic Area is open daily, meeting the community’s need for a dedicated dog park in the southern part of the island.
