More Information

Ġnien Congreve is an open space with spectacular views of the open sea and Filfa. Ġnien Congreve is a historic public garden located in Qrendi. It is named after Sir Walter Norris Congreve, a British governor of Malta between 1924 and 1927. The garden is a peaceful retreat within the village and is known for its serene atmosphere and lush greenery. Its historical significance stems from Sir Congreve’s influence, as he was a highly respected figure in Malta and even requested to be buried at sea off the coast of the island. The garden offers a mix of well-kept pathways, trees, and seating areas, making it a great spot for locals and visitors to enjoy a quiet moment or take a relaxing stroll. While it may not be as large or famous as some other gardens on the island, Ġnien Congreve holds a special charm, blending Qrendi’s local character with a sense of history and community.
