More Information

The Formal Garden, part of the National Park in Ta’ Qali, spans approximately 16,000 square meters and is a major ongoing project. The garden’s design honors the vision of the late architect Joseph Spiteri, who originally planned the space in the 1990s. Recent improvements include new, modern paving over 26,000 square meters, the enhancement of soft areas with trees, shrubs, plants, and turf, and the renovation of the rainwater collection system and existing reservoir. A new, modern irrigation system has been installed, alongside a designated area for art exhibitions and installations. The amphitheater has been rehabilitated, and all sanitary facilities have been updated with new systems. The main fountain and portico have been restored, and a new entrance has been created. The park now features modern, intelligent lighting and comprehensive CCTV coverage for security and vandalism prevention, as well as new street furniture.
